Hi, I'm Tamera, a loving daughter, sister, aunt and Jesus lover. I have struggled with depression for 20 years without success because I thought I could heal on my own and I was embarrassed.


I finally realized that if I was going to manage my depression I needed to seek God, learn more about this silent disease and get help.


I got on medication and learned more about my condition. I implemented some strategies and techniques and I am no longer chronically depressed. I also designed a course that will teach you how to become proactive and I am ready to share it with you.

    Depression doesn’t always come with a clear reason. Sometimes it follows loss, trauma, stress, loneliness, or the pressure of everyday life. Other times it shows up like a fog that won’t lift, leaving you exhausted, disconnected, and wondering why you can’t just “snap out of it.” I’m Tamara Trotter, a Christian, social worker, and depression overcomer, and I’m naming the real reasons people suffer from depression so you can stop blaming yourself and start choosing a path forward.

    We talk openly about depression symptoms, situational depression, and the reality of chemical imbalance in the brain, including why you have no control over that piece and why getting help is a strong move. I also share my own story of suffering in silence, finally seeking counseling and medication, and learning how to take ownership of my mental health with practical tools and steady faith. If you’ve felt embarrassed, stuck in bed, or distant from joy, you’re not alone and you’re not weak.

    We also go to Scripture for honest language and real comfort, from David’s raw words in Psalms 42 to Jesus’ invitation in Matthew 11:28 for the weary and burdened to find rest. Then we get practical about what to do next: reach out to a therapist or medical provider, lean on an accountability person, track triggers and patterns, and take small steps that add up. I’ll also challenge you to look at toxic relationships that may be keeping you in bondage to depression and consider boundaries that protect your peace.

The truth I come back to is simple: storms don’t last forever, but how we ride them out can shape who we become. You can cope with your depression, by knowing the signs. You will feel better mentally and emotionally.

    I walk through four anchors for mental health and emotional wellness during hard times: resiliency, courage, faith, and stamina. We get practical about resiliency as your “bounce back” skill, and I’ll ask you to rate yourself so you can spot where you’re strong and where you need support. Then we shift into courage, not as fearlessness, but as choosing action while you’re afraid. If you’re dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, burnout, or constant stress, that distinction can change how you show up today.

    To tie it all together, I share a ship-in-a-storm mindset: you can’t control the storm, but you can control your sails, your direction, and your mindset. I also give you a simple daily affirmation to repeat when pressure closes in, and I reflect on Isaiah 41 and the idea of being strengthened over time for what’s ahead.
