This story narrates the tale of a stag and a tiger, both of whom desire to build a home of their own. Unbeknownst to each other, they choose the same spot and begin working on the house alternately—one during the day and the other at night—each believing they have help from an unknown benefactor. Eventually, they discover one another and claim ownership of the house, leading to an agreement to live together. The partnership is strained when the tiger brings back a stag for dinner, unsettling his housemate. When the stag later returns with a tiger for dinner, both animals become wary of one another. Their mutual fear culminates in them fleeing the house, maintaining a cautious distance for fear of being attacked. The story concludes with the once-shared house eventually collapsing, left untouched by its fearful creators.
