Iran is facing one of the largest waves of unrest in decades. What started as protests over economic collapse and soaring prices has grown into nationwide demonstrations against the government, with thousands reportedly killed, thousands detained, and internet and phone communications cut off. Professor Rex Brynen, a political science expert at McGill University who specializes in Middle East politics, peacebuilding, and post-conflict reconstruction, spoke to Andrew Carter.
