What does it mean to be feminine? When we embrace our feminine energy, what are we embracing? In today’s episode of Honey Toast, Briana and Danielle discuss femininity: what it means to them, why it is difficult to embrace, and what embracing femininity looks like in practice.
Danielle and Briana start by discussing their personal definitions of femininity and then dive into their personal experiences with femininity. [1:32] Danielle thinks of femininity as an essence related to beauty, while also considering it related to femaleness.
[5:02] Danielle struggles to hone in on her femininity because she was raised in an environment where masculine qualities like productivity were valued.
[9:26] When Briana lived in Indonesia, she connected with her feminine essence through living in an environment with more nature.
[15:20] Women struggle to embrace their femininity because of poor representation, societal limitations, and cultural norms that favor masculine qualities.
[22:53] Briana’s role models are her mother, Sue Morter, and her spiritual coach Cathy.
[28:17] Since having children, Briana built an inner strength that she didn’t know she could have. Danielle has seen Briana set new boundaries and embrace her femininity through empowerment.
[34:33] Being vulnerable is courageous. If we could create a world that was more accepting of vulnerability, the feminine energy in the world would grow.
[42:11] Ultimately, everyone has to define what femininity and feminine energy means to them and embrace the vulnerability that comes with it.
