Fresh back from vacation!! Today, the POZ5 sits down with a legend in the Delaware County coaching scene: Bill Zwaan, a Former Widener and the most victorious football coach in West Chester University history.
Zwaan was a standout quarterback for the Delaware Blue Hens from 1973 to 1975. He led the team to the 1974 NCAA Division II national championship game.
After playing, Zwaan had a successful coaching career, with his first head coaching job landing him in Delco at Widener University. Leading the Pride to three MAC championships. Under his leadership, Widener achieved a remarkable 54–14 record, the highest winning percentage in school history
Zwaan, most renowned for his long tenure at West Chester University. Serving as the head coach of the Golden Rams football team for 23 seasons, from 2001 to 2023, amassing over 160 career wins and leading the team to multiple playoff appearances.
