In Psalm 145 & 146, we see David's lifelong vow to praise God, set against the empty alternative of trusting things of man that fade the moment they're gone. We trace God's character — his mercy, his holiness, and how far our sin falls short of it — and see why grace is the only explanation for his love toward us. We look ahead to the new heaven and earth of Revelation, where praise finally has no competition, and we're reminded he's sustaining us right now, until we get there.

In Psalm 144, we see that God trains us for the war, gives shelter from the war and blesses us beyond measure in so many ways. While happiness is an emotion, joy is a choice and blessings are a reality in the life of the believer. And for the joy he gives and the blessings he bestows, can we not find happiness in them? In Him?
