The last part of this floored me. I can see people wanting to be a normal weight instead of rich. At a normal weight, you are at a lower risk for diabetes, there’s less strain on your heart and skeleton, & you’re less likely to die from something like Covid. Preferring to be blind for life instead of obese because people at least want to help blind people, though? That’s awful. That just shows how entangled our emotions are with our weight.
