  • Exploring The Themes Of Top Gun: An Accidental Homosexual Underdog Story
    May 1 2023

Connor and Chandler are discussing the movie Top Gun. Chandler admitted that he hadn't seen Top Gun and Connor was shocked, calling it a class American movie like Field of Dreams. The two decided to watch the movie together and afterwards, Chandler revealed that he had expected it to be like the Fast and the Furious franchise, full of cool cars and outlandish stunts. However, he was pleasantly surprised to find that Top Gun was more than that.

In the movie Top Gun, the main character Maverick is trying to come to terms with honoring his dead father, who was a Navy pilot and died under mysterious circumstances. Maverick is seen as an underdog because the Navy dishonored his father and he wasn't allowed into the Naval Academy. Throughout the movie, Maverick takes risky moves in order to prove himself and honor his father's legacy. His bold and dangerous moves are a way of trying to get back at the Navy and make up for his father's dishonor. In the end, Maverick is successful in becoming part of the team and not necessarily the best, which is a personal victory for him.

The conversation also explored the theme of legacy in the latest Top Gun movie, Maverick. Top Gun: Maverick follows the story of the now deceased Goose’s son, who is played by Miles Teller in the new movie. The movie focuses on the relationship between the son and Maverick, who was close friends and flew with Goose’s dad. It explores the idea of family between the family you have and the family you choose, and the legacy that is left behind. It was concluded that Top Gun: Maverick is better than the original movie.

  • We Don't Watch S****y Movies: The Trailer
    Apr 17 2023

Connor and Chandler introduce their new podcast, where they don't watch shitty movies. They explain that they have a blacklist of movies that are considered to be particularly bad, such as Rubber, Frozen, and Mac and Me. They take a moment to introduce themselves and explain their backgrounds and how they came to watch movies. They conclude by introducing their podcast and encouraging the audience to watch responsible.

Chandler is a video editor and producer who has been studying film for over ten years. He got into it in high school, and his family has always been big on watching movies together. He explains his journey with film and how he looks at films differently now. Connor and Chandler both enjoy delving into the meanings behind films, but they know it is hard to find someone to have such a conversation with.

Connor started off by telling Chandler that he does not have a background in film, but he does have some experience in photography. He began his love for movies in college when he started to act and read books that quoted movies such as The Godfather and As Good As It Gets. As time went on, he stopped focusing on the acting element and instead moved towards the storyline and relationships between characters. He now watches movies with more intention, understanding the symbolism and deeper meaning.

Chandler and Connor are both passionate about movies and coffee. Chandler has a background in film studies and is familiar with more classic films, while Connor has a passion for cult classics. They both appreciate films that are a bit off the beaten path and are pushing the boundaries. They also have a shared passion for coffee, as they always have a cup when recording. The conversation highlights the different experiences and tastes both of the friends have when it comes to films and coffee.
