Waymo, the autonomous taxicab company owned by Alphabet , is recalling more than 3,000 self-driving sedans due to the software issue that caused the robotaxis to illegally pass stopped school buses. This voluntary software recall follows a major investigation by the NHTSA into over 19 incidents where cars passed buses with stop signs deployed—in one case, while children were crossing.
