    Meet the Old Ladies Against Underwater Garbage, a group of environmentalists who are proving age is just a number as they dive deep to and make a difference. Mary Grauerholz and Trish Corey join us to talk the good of making a difference right in your own backyard. Formed in 2017, OLAUG has been cleaning up ponds on Cape Cod from Falmouth to Chatham ever since. Gathering small teams of all-women swimmers, ages 64 to 85, they sweep along the shallows, to pick up beer cans, golf balls, fishing lures, waterlogged dog toys, hats, jackets, shoes, and occasionally a tire, cell phone or box of spent fireworks. They've been featured on NBC Nightly News, The Drew Barrymore Show, and NPR and now they're here to share their good time with us.     Maya Brattkus wanted to give her friend who lost her home in the LA fires a gift to comfort her and help her through her grief. What she didn't realize is that her art would touch so many people in need as well. So she started drawing the houses and businesses that were lost in the Eaton and Palisades fires to raise awareness and support for strangers she had never met, ones who had lost so much. And that's how her Lost Home Project began. And it's still going. Maya's goal is to collect as many drawings of these houses, along with the stories behind them, to compile into a book to pay tribute to her community. They say art heals people. Sometimes an artist realizes it can heal themself. PAA achieves this goal by collecting veterinary equipment, technology and supplies from veterinary hospitals, human hospitals, medical equipment and supply manufacturers and distributors, zoos, other non-profit organizations and individuals. These donated items are then distributed worldwide to veterinarians working in non-profit or non-governmental organizations devoted to animal health. This amazing organization is not only helping the animals of the planet, but also conserving valuable resources that will likely otherwise end up in a landfill. We are talking animals, conserving, recycling, reusing, and how bad ass it is to have Thrash as a last name.
