    The 46th News Journal All-Star Classic was played at Lexington High School. The North defeated the South, 150 - 114. The 150 points tied the most ever scored in the history of the game and Toby Rogers from Highland was named MVP. Rogers scored a game high 36 points and grabbed 12 boards. The contest raised over $11,000 for Catalyst Life Services.

  • HS Boys Basketball - Ashland vs Lexington (District Semi-Final) - February 25th, 2025

    The Lexington Minutemen (20-3) for the 4th straight year will play for a district title. Lex on Tuesday night beat Ashland, 69-48, at Willard High School in the Division III District Semi-Finals. The Minutemen got nearly a triple -double from junior point guard, Seven Allen, who scored a game-high 21 points, dished out 11 assists and grabbed 7 rebounds. Allen played incredible defense and make it difficult on Arrow ball handlers to bring the ball up the court. Jakob Legron was huge off the bench for Lex, as he drilled 5 three's and added 17 points. Two other Minutemen scored in double figures, as Brayden Fogle had 12 points and 9 rebounds, while Gavin Husty chipped in 10. Ashland (11-11) was led by Gabe Baith and Paxon Ediger, who each had 11 points to lead the way for the Arrows. Lexington will now face Sandusky (16-7) for the district crown on Friday night (6 pm) at Willard High School.

  • HS Boys Basketball - Shelby vs Ottawa-Glandorf - Division IV Sectional Final - February 21st, 2025

    The Shelby Whippets beat the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans in a tournament thriller on Friday, 51-49, in overtime. The win gave #3 Shelby (15-8) the Sectional Championship and sends them into the district semi-finals on Tuesday (8pm) vs #2 Upper Sandusky at Findlay high school. Shelby led by as many as 11 points in the first half, but OG cut the lead to 7 at the half, 29-22. The Titans clawed to within 3 at the end of the 3rd quarter at 36-33. Ottawa-Glandorf took a 3 point lead late in the 4th, when Nic Eyster drained a 3-point shot from the left corner to tie the game at 44-44 with :44 seconds left. The game went to OT, where Eyster continued to come up big for the Whippets, as he scored 4 of their 7 points in OT. Eyster led the way for Shelby with 15, Landon Foltz had 11 points, which all came in the 1st half, Karsen Homan had 10 and Brayden Devito added 8. Devito sunk two big free throws late in overtime. The Titans (8-13) had a great performance from Grady Toumazos, who scored a game high 21 points.

  • HS Boys Basketball - Mansfield Senior vs Norwalk - February 20th, 2025 ( Sectional Championship)

    Mansfield Senior defeated Norwalk, 84-59, to win the Division III Sectional Championship on Thursday at Pete Henry gymnasium. The TYgers had 10 players score and were led by 4 in double figures: Kyevi Roane 18, Rashad Reed 16, D'Vontae Johnson 12 and Kaylen Brooks with 11. Senior High scored 23 points in the 1st quarter and 25 more in the 3rd quarter to push them into the District Semi-Final on Tuesday (at Willard ) vs Sandusky at 8:30 pm. You can hear the game "live" on WMAN. Norwalk was led by Mason Gamble with 20 points and Jordan Parriott with 19.
