    The Shelby Whippets came from 11 points down to defeat the Ontario Warriors on Saturday night, 55-46, at Shelby High School. Ontario led by 2 points after the 1st quarter, 15-13, and by 9 at halftime, 30-21. The Whippets in the 2nd half held Ontario to single digits in each quarter, 7 in the 3rd and 9 in the 4th, and outscored the Warriors 34-16 in the 2nd half to win the game. Shelby was led by Landon Foltz with a game-high 23 points, while Brayden DeVito added 17. Ontario got 16 points from Trindon Flenoury, which all came in the 1st half. Cardae Brown finished with 8. The win for Shelby is their 5th in the last 6 games and improves the Whippets to 11-4 overall and 8-3 in the MOAC. The loss for Ontario is their 3rd in a row and the Warriors fell to 14-5 and 8-4 in the Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference.

  • High School Basketball - Wooster at Mansfield Senior - January 30th, 2026

    Mansfield Senior had 4 players score in double figures on Friday, as they beat Wooster at home, 68-59. Senior High was led by Rashad Reed, Kaylen Brooks and DJ Corbin, who each had a game-high 18 points in the victory. D'Vontae Johnson added in 12 points. The TYgers improve to 12-6 with the win and move to 8-4 in the OCC. Corbin pulled down a game high 11 rebounds, while Reed shot 60% from the floor (6/10) and was 6 of 7 at the free throw line. Wooster (7-11, 4-8) was led in scoring by Drew Thomas, who also had 18 points for the Generals. Tre Edwards and Sam Schantz each chipped in 10 points for Wooster.

  • High School Basketball - Ashland at Mansfield Senior - January 27th, 2026

    The Ashland Arrows defeated Mansfield Senior on the road Tuesday in a triple overtime thriller at Pete Henry gymnasium by a final score of 97-93. Paxon Ediger and Gabe Baith of Ashland combined for 69 points, as four Arrows scored in double figures with Garrett Davis adding 15 and Reed Emmons chipped in 11. The win keeps Ashland in a first place tied with Dover atop the Ohio Cardinal Conference with 3 league games left to play. Ediger drilled a 3-pointer at the buzzer to tie the game at 73-73 and send it into double overtime. Paxon connected on 12 consecutive free throws in triple OT to push the Arrows (10-6, 9-2) to the victory. Gabe Baith was incredible from behind the 3-point line, as he made 7 of 10 attempts (70%). Mansfield Senior (11-6, 7-4 in the OCC) now falls 2 games back with 3 games to play in the league. The TYgers were led by Kaylen Brooks with 29, Rashad Reed with 21, all of which game in the 2nd half, D'Vontae Johnson with 13 and Andrew Brooks with 10 points.

  • High School Boys Basketball - Bellevue at Lexington - Saturday, January 24th, 2026

    The Lexington Minutemen snapped their 10 game losing streak on Saturday with an impressive win, 43-40, over a good Bellevue team (11-5). Lexington led for a good portion of the ballgame, as Daniel Hudson got the team off to a great start by scoring 10 of his team-high 16 points in the 1st half. Hudson also pulled down 13 rebounds for a double-double and had the game's biggest play on defense late in the 4th quarter by drawing a charge. Dantrell Hughes added 12 points and had the go ahead basket and free throws in the final seconds for the Minutemen to secure the win. Ethan Bianchi played well for Lex (5-11) and chipped in 10 points. Ike Brown led Bellevue with 17 points on the afternoon.

The TYgers saw 11 players score in total, 3 in double figures to remain 1 game behind Ashland and Dover in the Ohio Cardinal Conference. Kaylen Brooks led the way with 17 points, while Davion Mack and Andrew Brooks each added 10. Sammie Likely chipped in 9 points off the bench, as Senior High got 27 points from the bench. Nate Sprang led the Knights (4-10) with a game-high 20 points.

    Mansfield Senior snapped their 3 game losing streak on Tuesday with a 70-42 win at home vs Lexington. The loss for the Minutemen is their 9th straight, which is the longest since the 2003-2004 season. The TYgers held Lexington to just 14 first half points and led 35-14 at the break. Senior High had 14 steals in the game and scored 19 points off of 18 Minutemen turnovers. Mansfield Senior (9-5) remains 1 game out of first place in the OCC. The TYgers were led in scoring by D'Vontae Johnson with 14, Kaylen Brooks with 13 and DJ Corbin with 12. Corbin had a great all-around game with 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Lexington (4-10, 2-6) was led in scoring by freshman Jayden Perkins with 12.

Lexington was led by Dantrell Hughes with 26 points and Jayden Perkins added 14 for the Minutemen (4-9), who have now lost 8 games in a row.

    Mansfield St. Peter's improved their record above .500 (5-4) with a league win over rival Lucas, 51-44, on Friday at home. The Spartans led after the 1st quarter 16-7, thanks to 9 points, 3 blocks and 2 dunks from senior Markeis Johnson. Markeis poured in 22 points lead St. Peter's, while Jaydon Fultz drilled three 3's and chipped in 9 points. The Spartans led by 13 points at halftime, 28 -15 and increase their lead to 39-25 after three quarters. Lucas outscored St. Peter's 19-12 in the 4th quarter and cut the lead down to single digits, thanks to a big effort from senior Hayden Maloney, who scored a career high 24 points and pulled down 9 rebounds. Lucas falls to 0-12 and 0-5 in the Mid-Buckeye Conference, while the Spartans improve to 2-3 in the league.
