On day 47 the team walked the final stage — just under 20 kilometres — into Santiago de Compostela and reached St. James Cathedral, collecting their Compostela certificate.

Day 46 of the walk was a wet, cold 20-kilometre push from Arzua to O Pedrouzo, testing the group's grit with rain and wet gear.

Day 45: a 15-kilometre walk from Melide to Arzúa, starting with a steep hill and a picturesque path through dense woods, though often within earshot of the main road. The temperature dropped sharply and spring felt like winter; rain threatened but held off until arrival.

Day 44: a 15-kilometre walk from Palas de Rei to Melide under low grey clouds, light drizzle, and rapidly dropping temperatures. The route passed through bushland with eucalyptus plantings and brought back memories of earlier stages. Arrived in Melide, sampled Galicia’s famous octopus, and prepared for the next leg.

Day 43 covers a tough 25 km trek from Portomarín to Palas de Rei, featuring a long, steep climb and changeable weather. The hikers compare this to their difficult 2017 day but note they are fitter, better prepared, and handled the route more strongly this time.

Today is the beginning of the final six days. This is the path that we walked back in 2017, so we're both really excited to walk this path again and see what we remember and what we've forgotten.
