After a first quarter blitz there were some shaky moments in the second half (again!) but the St Kilda Football Club steadied the ship to run out Gather Round victors over Port Adelaide.

But if nobody talks about it, did we even win the game?!

Michael Gardiner went from a #1 Draft Pick at West Coast to an All Australian ruckman to a pariah in Perth. It took a career-saving trade to St Kilda to repair his reputation - and gave the Saints a classy ruck-forward option during the AFL Grand Final years of 2009-2010.

New faces, same old Saints. Once again, we were our own worst enemy - on the right track, but just couldn't get it done.

Despite a heap of new faces - and a record crowd at the MCG - wasted opportunities was the key takeaway from Opening Round despite a +23 inside 50 differential over Collingwood.
