In June 2017, 20-year-old Ashley Mariah Loring, also known as Ashley Loring HeavyRunner, disappeared from the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Montana. Last seen at a party in Browning, Montana, she never returned home. Despite extensive searches, tips, and the discovery of some personal items, no confirmed sightings have been reported, and the case remains unsolved.
Ashley’s case would become one of the most widely recognized examples of the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women crisis — a movement fueled by families who refuse to let their loved ones be forgotten.
