  • #173 - Pochettino: "Not Up To Us" To Talk About Ticket Prices
    Jan 30 2026
The 2026 World Cup is a few months away, and Mauricio Pochettino spoke some piercing words about the “duty” of players and coaches to comment on World Cup ticket prices. We discuss his comments on Episode 173. In a virtual press conference yesterday, Pochettino was asked whether FIFA was doing all it could to make the World Cup affordable for supporters after Tim Weah commented last week that World Cup tickets were too expensive and pricing out fans. Pochettino’s response? Weah and the rest of the players should focus on the field, not the other stuff. We take Pochettino’s comments to task on this episode, emphasizing the platform that players and coaches have and the true duty to use that platform to help bring the changes that will help make not just the World Cup successful but make the game grow and improve. Pochettino’s comments were disappointing, to say the least. We spend some time on why they were disappointing. After the break, we get into some of the USMNT transfers that have happened and others that are rumored. Are these guys taking some risks in making a move right now? Risks are there. But we comment on why some of these moves could be good for certain players and why others may want to stay put to better their chances of making the World Cup roster.
