This week on No Snobs or Knobs, Ep 984, we blast off into one of the greatest “wait… that’s it?” moments in science history: Robert Goddard’s first liquid-fuel rocket flight — a launch that lasted just 2.5 seconds, climbed about 41 feet, and landed roughly 184 feet away in Auburn, Massachusetts on March 16, 1926. Tiny flight. Massive consequence.

It may have looked like a wobbly farm experiment at the time, but that little rocket — fueled by gasoline and liquid oxygen — became the breakthrough that helped change the future of modern rocketry. What lasted less time than a bad sneeze helped open the road to space travel, satellites, moon missions, and every giant rocket that came after it.
