Hi, I’m Nathan Ching, a redeemed child of God, happy husband and homeschooling dad, and lifelong lover of good books. For years--even before I became a father--I eagerly looked forward to leading my children to know, love, and serve God. As a young man, I realized that reading, beginning first with the Bible, then other books, unlocked my understanding. The Old Testament prophet said, ”I Daniel understood by books….” When I prayed about how to train my children for God, I became convinced that reading to and with my children would be an essential element in helping them to delight in God and do His will. While I can’t claim to have perfected the art of leading my family, I am happy to say that the Lord has taught me practical, useful lessons--lessons I believe would serve other dads as they lead their families. That’s what this podcast is all about. There are treasures to be found in books that simply can’t be found anywhere else. Come join us on our journey, and let’s go find the treasures in books! 📖 Download free Bible audio: www.refreshpublishing.com/bible 🧑🏻‍💻 Visit the Website: www.treasureboxbooks.com 📩 Email Me: support@treasureboxbooks.com +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ https://feed.podbean.com/treasureboxbooks/feed.xml Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

  • 063 | Celebrate Our Risen Lord
    Apr 19 2025

    Hey Fellow Dads,

This coming Lord’s Day is Easter—Resurrection Sunday—when we who follow the Lord Jesus Christ celebrate the fact that nearly 2000 years ago, after a brutal death by crucifixion, He literally, physically, victoriously walked out of His grave. Do we dads have any special role to play in how our families celebrate this event?

As Christian dads, it’s our responsibility to lead our families to appreciate the importance of Jesus’ resurrection. Here are five ways you and I can do that for our families.

  • 061 | Do Audiobooks = Real Books? (Part 2—Advantages)
    Apr 1 2025
Hey Fellow Dads, Last time we looked at some disadvantages of audiobooks as compared to printed books. Today’s episode will discuss six advantages of audiobooks, along with a list of some of my favorite audiobooks—I hope you enjoy many of them! —Nathan Books 📚 🎧 The Hiding Place, by Corrie Ten Boom 📚 💻 Expository Thoughts on the Gospel of Mark, by J.C. Ryle, available to read online here in its original text: https://archive.org/details/expository-thoughts-on-the-gospel-of-mark-j-c-ryle-scan/page/6/mode/2up?view=theater 📚 Jotham’s Journey, by Arnold Ytreeide 📚 🎧 💻 This Country of Ours, by H.E. Marshall (narrated by Kara Shallenburg) America’s Heroes and History series, by Brian Kilmeade 📚 George Washington’s Secret Six📚 Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates📚 Andrew Jackson and the Miracle of New Orleans📚 Sam Houston and the Alamo Avengers📚 The President and the Freedom Fighter📚 Teddy and Booker T. 📚 🎧 The Holy Bible, King James Version, narrated by Alexander Scourby 📚 🎧 Tyndale: The Man Who Gave God an English Voice, by David Teems, narrated by Simon Vance 📚 🎧 The Lamb, by John Cross, narrated by John Cross Quotes “In darkness God's truth shines most clear.” “Love is larger than the walls which shut it in.” “Perhaps only when human effort had done its best and failed, would God's power alone be free to work.” “No pit is so deep that God is not deeper still.” —Corrie Ten Boom, in The Hiding Place “Let believers cling to this doctrine with jealous watchfulness. With it, they stand upon a rock. Without it, they have nothing solid beneath their feet. Our hearts are weak. Our sins are many. We need a Redeemer who is able to save to the uttermost, and deliver from the wrath to come. We have such a Redeemer in Jesus Christ. He is ‘the mighty God.’ “ (Isaiah ix. 6.) “A great congregation no doubt is a pleasing sight. But the thought should often come across our minds, ‘How many of these people will reach heaven at last?’ “It is not enough to hear and admire popular preachers. It is no proof of our conversion that we always worship in a place where there is a crowd. Let us take care that we hear the voice of Christ Himself, and follow Him. —J.C. Ryle, in Expository Thoughts on the Gospel of Mark “I’ve got a long list of books I really want to read, but I simply don’t have the time. Most of my reading is taken up with books that I need to read—my Bible first, that’s my soul food.” —Nathan Advantages of Listening to Audiobooks You can listen to audiobooks when you are doing activities that don't allow reading.Listening to an audiobook is like listening to someone read a book to you.Listening to an audiobook can allow you to consume books you wouldn't normally have the time to read.Listening to audiobooks can help you discover books worth reading to your family.Listening to an audiobook can help you to read better yourself.Listening to audiobooks read by skilled narrators can help your children grow in several areas, not the least of which is reading itself.
