    Apr 14 2026

"I am a F.B.I. Agent!" This week, we’re paddling out into the 50-year storm to revisit the 1991 adrenaline-fueled masterpiece, Point Break. It’s a film that shouldn’t work on paper—a Zen-philosophical surfing heist movie—yet it somehow redefined the action genre. From the high-stakes "Ex-Presidents" bank robberies to Gary Busey’s unhinged energy, we’re breaking down why this Kathryn Bigelow classic remains the ultimate high-octane trip through early 90s cinema.

The Movie Hound joins Dave and Rob to dive into the wild casting rumors, the "less than nothing" philosophy of the script, and the legendary stunts that made this a cult favorite. We explore the bromance between Johnny Utah and Bodhi and discuss how a movie this absurd managed to become a genuine masterpiece. Grab your board and join us as we decide if this is a spiritual experience or just life’s sick sense of humor. Vaya con Dios, brah!

  • 80s Movie Songs: Our Top 10 Underrated Gems (No Danger Zone!)
    Apr 7 2026

Forget "Footloose" and "Danger Zone"—Dave and Rob are digging into the 80s movie deep cuts you forgot you loved. This isn't your average Top 10; it’s a high-octane countdown of the best "non-mainstream" tracks to ever grace the silver screen.

In this episode, the guys bypass the obvious radio hits like "Ghostbusters" and "The Power of Love" to celebrate the under-the-radar anthems and moody synth masterpieces that defined 80s cinema. From cult classic montages to the songs that gave indie sleepers their soul, Dave and Rob debate which tracks truly captured the era's magic without leaning on the Billboard charts. Whether it’s a gritty rock track from a forgotten action flick or a shimmering pop gem from a teen drama, they’re proving that the best movie music often lives in the shadows of the blockbusters.

  • Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991): Was it Actually Good? | Totally 80s & 90s Recall
    Mar 3 2026

This week we're reviewing the 1991 Kevin Costner classic Robin Hood; Prince of Thieves. We'll travel back to 1194 to frantically help Costner look for his English accent. This high action darker take on Robin Hood was a global financial success earning over $390 million worldwide. Although Costner's hair and flaming arrow may have gotten you to the theater, it's Alan Rickman who steals the show as the Sheriff of Nottingham. Rickman delivers and steals every scene he's in, making you laugh the whole time. Does this movie hold up? Is Bryan Adams evil with that song? Why is the score so good?

Dave, Rob and Kurt will join Robin and his Merry Men back in Sherwood Forest on this episode to rob from the rich and steal from the poor, and please, leave the dull spoons at home

  • Why 80s Country Was the Best Kept Secret in Music
    Feb 24 2026

Dust off the rhinestones and fire up the jukebox, because 1980s country was where neon lights met steel guitars. The decade kicked off with outlaw grit still echoing from the 70s, but soon the airwaves filled with the polished swagger of artists like George Strait and Reba McEntire, who balanced tradition with arena-sized confidence. Bands like Alabama turned country into a crossover powerhouse, stacking harmonies as tall as their tour buses, while storytellers such as Randy Travis steered the genre back toward its roots with rich baritone ballads that felt carved from oak

At the same time, legends like Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers continued to shape the landscape, proving that authenticity never goes out of style. Sister duos like The Judds brought heart-tugging harmonies to the charts, and by the decade’s end, a young Garth Brooks was loading the launchpad for the 90s country explosion. From honky-tonk tearjerkers to glossy radio anthems, 80s country was a decade of big hooks, bigger hair, and songs that still two-step straight into your memory
