Tom & Mickey: Free To Be You & Me

On January 28, 2008, a thoroughly cold and miserable Monday evening in Manhattan, Tom Postilio and Mickey Conlon were invited by a mutual friend to a concert at The Town Hall on West 43rd Street. The weather nearly discouraged Mickey from showing up, but with some persuasive prodding from their host, he did. Just a few minutes before showtime, Tom and Mickey were introduced to each other for the first time. Despite having many friends in common, somehow, they were unaware of one another. Neither of them could have known that night that they were already on their way to becoming “Tom & Mickey.” Like any great romcom, there were complications at the beginning that threatened to hijack their happily ever after. Perhaps it was a shared love of Sinatra, the Great American Songbook, and old Hollywood that bound them. Or was it fate’s determination?
