  • SE 05 EP 119 - Spirituality Across Hemispheres – with Julie Brett
    Aug 15 2025

Grab your walking shoes, your wand, and maybe a good bug spray — because today we’re wandering deep into the forest… and not just any forest. 🌿

The Three Witches are back, and this time we’ve doubled the Druidry for good measure!

In this special episode, the Three Witches are joined once again by author, teacher, and Australian Druid Julie Brett! Together, we wander through the wilds of conversation about forest spirituality, exploring both the striking differences and surprising similarities between the landscapes of Nova Scotia and Australia.

Julie shares why she aligned herself with the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids (OBOD), and how her deep love of the land has led to a lifelong exploration of sacred topography — from eucalyptus-covered mountains to the mossy woodlands of the Maritimes.

We also dig into her books:

📖 Australian Druidry — a guide to weaving Celtic-inspired spiritual practice into the Australian landscape

📖 Belonging to the Earth — a reflection on nature spirituality in a changing world

From adapting the Wheel of the Year to different climates, to finding harmony with the seasons exactly as they unfold (even when they’re unpredictable), Julie offers a deeply rooted, joy-filled, and refreshingly practical approach to living in alignment with nature.

If you’ve ever wondered how to honor the land you live on while honoring your spiritual heritage, this is the conversation you’ve been waiting for.

    Jul 18 2025

How to Worship the Earth When It’s Trying to Kill You – Part 2: Down Under with Julie Brett ---

In this delightfully grounded and slightly unhinged second part of our elemental series, the Three Witches and a Druid take a mental journey to the Southern Hemisphere to chat with Julie Brett — Druid, author, teacher, and all-around Earth-loving badass based in the wilds of Australia. All without leaving our favorite recording location... the fire pit in Druid Brian's yard!

Julie helps us navigate what it really means to follow a nature-based spiritual path in a land where the rivers are sacred, the sun can scorch your soul, and the wildlife is actively trying to murder you.
    We explore:

🌿 The unique topography of Australia and how it shapes ritual and seasonal practice.
🔥 The devastating fires of recent years and what they’ve taught us about grief, renewal, and climate resilience.
🌊 Sacred waters, drought, and the living memory of the land.
🌪️ Cyclones, climate change, and the global Pagan experience of a shifting Wheel of the Year.
🐍 And yes — snakes, spiders, and spiritual presence in the middle of it all.

Julie also shares her experience on how modern Druidry can root itself meaningfully in the Australian landscape — with deep respect for Indigenous culture and Country.

This episode is for anyone trying to stay spiritually grounded when the world feels like it’s on fire — literally or metaphorically.

  • SE 05 - EP 117 Pagan Community Building
    Jul 4 2025

Pagan Community Building (…or is the Druid secretly starting a cult?)

This week on Three Witches and a Druid, the gang kicks things off in their now-iconic meeting spot: our wise Druid’s backyard—home to birdsong, dappled sunlight, and a feral patch of Japanese knotweed that might just be plotting world domination. Annoying? Yes. Edible? Also yes. Turns out, in a post-apocalyptic snack emergency, we might all be chewing knotweed and pretending it's kale.

From there, things take a deliciously unhinged turn as the hosts dive into one of their favourite long-running fantasies: building the ultimate pagan community. We’re talking full-on witchy commune energy—sacred fires, gardens overflowing with herbs, shared meals, moon rituals, maybe a goat or 7… the works. And of course, chaos ensues in the best way.

They dish on everything from apocalypse gardening tips to the logistics of communal living, throw shade at zoning laws, and even casually mention the Diefenbunker because why wouldn’t you want your coven to have a Cold War-era hideout?

    Expect:

    🌿 Big ideas, bigger laughs

🏕️ Pagan utopia planning (with zero HOA drama)

😂 Debates about goat ownership and composting toilets

🏡 The dream of shared pagan housing and land stewardship💬 And a very important question: how do you define a cult?

🥴 The slippery slope from “earth-centred commune” to “oops, now we’re on a watchlist”This episode is for every witch, druid, or magical misfit who’s ever looked around at late-stage capitalism and thought, “You know what? I’d rather live in the woods with my weird friends and make jam.”

    CALL TO ACTION:

Got a fantasy commune layout on your Pinterest board? Secretly Googled “buy an island with my coven”? Slide into our DMs or send a message on FB and spill the tea. The hosts want to hear your wildest (or most practical) visions for a real-life pagan community.

So wonderful to have this amazing group to spend time with and hear their experiences and share their knowledge. It can be difficult to find authentic content for earth based folk and your podcast welcomes everyone from every path and makes all feel welcome. Being on the solitary path can have its challenges at times but I know there are so many others who are on the same journey as I. So many have come from a toxic environment of those that proselytize and spew their harmful and hateful speech and beliefs onto anyone that does not fit their model for salvation. I knew that the God of the Bible could not love and hate his children at the same time, and doubly so for me as my orientation is considered an "abomination" I would be damned to the depths of hell. In one of the episodes where you were talking about how frustrating it is that everyone believes witches worship the devil, and then Brian said, " the devil is actually a deity of the Christian faith " (rough quote), but I nearly fell off my chair. I have never hear this before and it just went through me to my core. It was the one piece of truth that I have been missing all my life. This is simply another form of hate used to control congregates with the fear of a hell that they created from a book of tales based in hate. I know that I alone choose the path of belief that I wish to follow. We are not broken, we are not alone and our great Mother (in all her forms) watches over us every day and has nothing but love for us. For those who have invested the time in reading this review, do not be afraid to discover your path for yourself. do not let anyone tell you that you are hated or not loved or an abomination based on some book of myths written by very angry people. Thank you so much for all that you do and I cannot wait for the next episode!

So inspiring!! Their theories and discussions bring lively conversations to my inner ponderings of the craft with added enthusiasm and wisdom fueled additions that I haven’t thought of! I’ve been practicing formally for about 2/3 years now but I’ve been not so formally practiced and perceived in the realm of magic since childhood, I find this podcast to be a new amazing and informative asset to my research!!! If I could give this 10 stars I would still want to give 20!!!!

Wonderful words!!

Listening to this, I found there was a lot that I had some experience with. In terms of Astral projecting, I came to realize that my father had inadvertently taught me how to do it. He was raised Christian and told me it was his trick for beating his nightmares. as I discovered my spirituality I found I was able to use his trick to move dimensions. I would like to use this to experience past lives but I am currently pregnant and feeling nervous of this kind of travel with the baby.

great show
