Thousands of San Franciscans paid their parking tickets off not with cash, but with their time

Thousands of San Franciscans avoided paying their parking tickets last year, at least with cash. Instead, they paid with their time. An unmarked box truck was converted into a mobile cubicle this afternoon. Regular people were encouraged to get in and get smashing. The Mechanics Institute in downtown San Francisco has a new opportunity for young creatives, inviting them to join their historic community of artists, chess players and storytellers.
