  • In April 1963, former Olympic skier Sonja McCaskie was strangled and dismembered by 18-year-old high school student Thomas Lee Bean, who had a history of troubled behavior. Thomas’s attorneys presented an insanity defense, but there was evidence that he put thought and planning into the murder.
