  • L&O: She didn't die on 9/11. She was MURDERED!
    Apr 15 2026

Briscoe and Green investigate a skeleton with a diamond ring on her right hand and her left one missing. The detectives are shocked to learn it's Kelly Sommers, whose left hand and purse were discovered years earlier at Ground Zero. The detectives trace the ring to a Senator's son who'd been having an affair with Kelly. Lenny and Ed learn Bradley Hagen took his mistress to dinner on the night of September 10th.

McCoy prosecutes the son of Branch's biggest campaign contributor. Kelly's fiancé identifies the handbag she took to work on September 11th, but Southerlyn realizes it's a night-on-the-town bag and not a go-to-work bag. They realize it was the fiancé who killed Kelly, left her hand at the World Trade Center, and collected a fortune in 9/11 reparations.

We're talking about Law & Order season 13 episode 5 "The Ring." Our guest from our July 29, 2020 episode is the author of the Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows series Leigh Bardugo.

The episode is based on the ripped-from-the-headlines story of Sneha Anne Philip.

New episodes of These Are Their Stories will return July 8!

  • SVU: Elle Fanning burns down Dani Beck's apartment
    Apr 1 2026

Elliot Stabler and his new partner/work crush Dani Beck look for whoever fled after trying to kidnap two children. Eden (played by a young Elle Fanning) says her sister is still missing and Marc stabs Stabler with a pen. Fin and Munch think this a part of a child smuggling operation connected to a sketchy adoption agency. The detectives recover an audiotape of a child being smothered in a "rebirthing" ceremony. Stabler and Beck then arrest some foster parents who've been keeping their children in cages. Novak can't get a conviction because the kids won't testify against the abusive adults. To help Eden feel safe, Dani agrees to let the child sleep at her place. She awakes after Eden (who clearly has some issues to work through) tries to burn the room down. Burned out herself, Dani tells Elliot she's not cut out for SVU. And despite their smoldering longing for each other, she walks out of his life forever.

We’re looking at Special Victims Unit season 8 episode 8 “Cage.” Our guest from our November 21, 2018 episode is Vaya Pashos from the Buddywatch podcast.

This episode is inspired by the rebirthing death of Candace Newmaker.

  • SVU: Dude thought the cam girl was actually into him
    Mar 18 2026

While performing a rape fantasy sequence during her livestream, cam girl Zoe is attacked by an intruder. Captain Benson discovers the assailant is one of her fans. "ShyGabe" tells Fin he believes Zoe is in love with him and he thought she was inviting him over to role play. The victim tells Kat she does not want her double life exposed. ADA Carisi believes a jury may not convict Gabe if they think the performer consented to the violent sex.

Gabe represents himself at trial, using the opportunity to get Zoe to admit she said "I love you" to him in private chat rooms. Carisi counters by putting Zoe's other fans on the stand, all of whom say the cam girl said the same things to them. Gabe becomes jealous and has an outburst in court, pulling the COVID-era Plexiglas right off the witness stand.

We're talking about Special Victims Unit season 22 episode 5 "Turn Me On Take Me Private." Our guest is Ronald Young Jr. from the Weight For It podcast.

This episode takes some inspiration from the 2018 case of Grant Amato.

I loved finding out that I wasn't the only one who would keep some iteration of Law and Order going in the background any time it was available (and thanks to cable TV, it's nearly always available.) Kevin, Rebecca, and a different special guest each episode take an episode from the Law and Order universe and discuss it as well as the true crime it's sometimes closely and sometimes loosely based on, and I'm here for it. They ask each of their guests their favorite detectives (mine is Briscoe and Green, a pretty popular choice) and their favorite prosecutorial team (McCoy and Ross, fight me). This podcast has freed up my day, I used to plan a visit to the gym around when I could catch a full episode of SVU, now I can go anytime I want and listen to this. Love this pod!

L&O junkies will love this
