In July of 2021, amidst racist, incendiary news media headlines and an already hostile migration system, the UK Home Secretary proposed a bill that violates international refugee law and makes it effectively impossible for refugees to legally enter the UK. How can a system that is supposed to help people fleeing unimaginable horrors be so callous?
