    Transcript:

Montana Governor Greg Gianforte signed legislation to ban TikTok from operating in his state, in the hopes of protecting residents from alleged intellegence gathering by China. An earlier ban was made to ban it from government devices, but this new legislation extends to the general public.

TikTok’s communications department responded to the legislation, calling it “unlawful”, and adding “We want to reassure Montanans that they can continue using TikTok to express themselves, earn a living and find community as we continue working to defend the rights of our users inside and outside of Montana.”

This move will make it against the law for Google or Apple’s app stores to offer TikTok in Montana, however people who continue to use the app will not be penalized. This ban is to take effect on January 1st.

Last week, President Biden was in Valhalla at Westchester Community College at an event hosted by Congressman Jamaal Bowman. This was done to talk about the standoff over the debt ceiling and economic crisis. Biden, and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy are now looking into making a deal before June 1st, the deadline before the country defaults.

Starting in December, Google will begin deleting accounts that haven’t been signed into in 2 years. They cited security concerns, saying “if an account hasn’t been used for an extended period of time, it is more likely to be compromised.” Accounts with YouTube videos, however, will not be deleted.

The BBC has cancelled a planned show with KSI after he came under scrutiny for using a racial slur during a video. KSI has apologized for the incident, saying that “There’s no excuse, no matter the circumstances, I shouldn’t have said it and I’m sorry”.

And lastly, the MTA has announced plans to replace their iconic turnstiles with an updated redesign featuring technology that directly integrates with the new OMNY — or One Metro New York — payment system. OMNY is set to replace the MetroCard in 2024. The 20th anniversary of the MetroCard is June 1st of this year.

This move comes as the MTA is looking to combat fare-beaters on NYC Subways and Buses. Here are some highlights from a press conference held by the MTA. For transparency, credit for the Audio goes to the MTA, obtained via a press release which contained a link to the entire conference hosted on YouTube.

For our last story, EDP445 released a video on his website, EDP445.com titled “Protect our Kids”. Take a listen:

For context, Chris Tyson was a collaborator on the Mr. Beast channel who recently came out as gender non-conforming. EDP was referencing a 2016 tweet Tyson made, saying “nothing gets my knob-ah-crankin’ like some Loli”. Loli is a genre of fictional content where young-looking girls appear in romantic and sexual contexts.

EDP himself had been caught engaged in sexually charged, predatory conversations with a minor leading to his deplatforming in 2021.

And that’s the news. The news continues on our website, the World TElegram.com and streaming on YouTube. I’m Edvardi J. In New York City. Goodnight.
