The Whole New Creation: Spirit, Soul, and Body — Redeemed and Protected in Messiah

Exposing the Lies in Today’s Deliverance Movement

This teaching confronts the false idea that only the spirit is saved at new birth, leaving the soul or body vulnerable to demon possession. It affirms the biblical truth that the entire person—spirit, soul, and body—is redeemed in Messiah.

1. Salvation Is Whole-Person Redemption

1 Thessalonians 5:23 – God sanctifies us entirely: spirit, soul, and body.

Salvation is more than spiritual rebirth—it includes the renewing of the soul and the future glorification of the body.

2. Stages of Salvation (Past, Present, Future):

Justification (Spirit – past): Born again (Titus 3:5)

Sanctification (Soul – present): Ongoing renewal (Romans 12:2)

Glorification (Body – future): Resurrection to immortality (Romans 8:23)

3. New Creation Means Fully Transformed Identity

2 Corinthians 5:17 – In Messiah, old things pass away.

We are not fragmented beings; in the Hebraic view, salvation touches every part of us.

4. Born-Again Believers Cannot Be Demon-Possessed

1 Corinthians 6:19 – Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 6:14–16 – Light and darkness cannot cohabit.

Luke 10:19; Colossians 1:13 – Believers have authority and are transferred from darkness.

Possession is not possible where the Holy Spirit dwells. Influence? Yes. Possession? No.

5. Temptation Is Not Possession

Believers may face external attacks (James 1:14), but nowhere does Scripture show demon possession of the redeemed.

6. Walking in the Fullness of Redemption

Romans 12:1–2; James 1:21 – Renew the mind, yield the soul, offer the body in service.

You are saved, sealed, and called to grow in maturity, not fear.

Exposing the Roots of the False Teaching:

False Claim: “Only your spirit is saved; your soul or body can be demon-possessed.”

Rooted in: Pagan Greek dualism (Plato): Spirit good, body evil

Gnostic heresy: Secret knowledge frees spirit, ignores body

New Age mysticism: Rituals cleanse body/soul from “energies”

These systems deny the biblical unity of the person and sufficiency of Christ’s work.

The Biblical, Hebraic View:

• We are unified beings created in God’s image (Genesis 2:7).

• The Holy Spirit indwells the believer fully (John 14:17; 1 Cor. 6:19).

• The whole person is redeemed, protected, and sealed (Ephesians 1:13).

Conclusion:

• This false teaching fosters fear, diminishes Christ’s finished work, and opens doors to New Age practices dressed in Christian language.

The truth:

You are fully saved in Messiah—spirit, soul, and body.

You are sealed, secure, and victorious over darkness.

No demonic power can inhabit a born-again believer.
