    WMOV and The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce held a Meet the Candidates Forum Tuesday night at Cedar Lakes in Ripley. In this edition of the Valley Today we will hear from five of the 10 candidates seeking a seat on the Ripley City Council.

    The first half hour features banker Jenny Parsons, former police officer Jim Fridley and Jackson County Schools employee and coach Phil Iman.

    In our second half hour, we'll hear from social worker Grace Moore and businessman Anthony Crihfield Jones.

    Members of the Jackson County Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers - Jackson County, WV, met Thursday to official merge their two organizations into the new Education West Virginia - Jackson County union. Dave Miller spoke with EWV Statewide Co-President Kristie Skidmore and EWV Jackson County Vice President Kara McCutcheon about the progess to this day for both former organizations and how it will brings educators across the county together. Dave also spoke with Denise Speck, a retired educator and labor leader from Minnesota, who has consulted EWV on the merger, both statewide and at the local level.

    Dave also has his Friday discussion with T.J. Meadows of Metro News about his recent commentary on wanting political mailers to stop and what he sees coming up over the next three and a half weeks before the West Virginia Primary Election.

    In the first half hour, we'll hear from former Councilman James Ball, sitting Councilman Danny Martin and businessman David Smith.

    In the second half hour, we'll hear from retired educator Cheryl Miller and RVFD Deputy Chief Richie Gobble.
