The Untold Story of David and Goliath

  • Resumen

  • One of the most famous Bible stories, the tale of David and Goliath is as old as time.

To many, it depicts how an underdog like David, a shepherd’s boy, can beat someone like The Philistine, Goliath, who was a stronger, bigger, and more experienced military man.

Today, this biblical story is used as a metaphor to describe defying the odds and succeeding at something no one thought was possible.

However, is that what the original tale was about? Many will say yes, but I come to you with an alternative answer!

In this week’s episode of The Bible You Thought You Knew, we discuss how David, a shepherd’s boy, came to power; why Goliath was known as The Philistine, and what their story truly means.

    Key points discussed

    • David and Goliath - a tale that withstood time (00:49)
    • A hero’s journey - from shepherd boy to king (05:42)
    • Why was Goliath referred to as The Philistine? (09:58)
    • What is the David and Goliath story truly about? (15:53)
