For most of us, serving on a jury is the closest we will ever come to being Caught Up in Crime. For centuries, those accused of the most serious crimes have had the right to be heard by twelve ordinary citizens - their fates resting in the hands of their peers. But the system is creaking. Underfunded and undervalued, there are murmurings of discontent in the corridors of power. Might juries be on the way out?
