    One of the most imaginative architects in history, Francesco Borromini (1599-1667), came out of the quarries of Switzerland to transform the face of Baroque Rome. Masterpieces like San Carlo alle Quattro Fontana and Sant’Ivo alla Sapienza have long entered the canon of architectural history. This master builder, pioneer of the graphite revolution in draftsmanship, was both a connoisseur of history and an apostle of inventiveness. In this lecture, Joseph Connors will outline his search over five decades for ways of repositioning an elusive genius in the culture of his time.

    Join the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art to experience recordings from Indigenizing Museums, a two-day symposium amplifying the voices of Indigenous artists and curators, made possible by generous funding from the Terra Foundation for American Art. “Personal Narratives in a Public Space,” the final panel, brings together artists David Ocelotl Garcia, Jamie Okuma, and Dana Warrington for presentations and a panel discussion about how they infuse their personal stories into works that are designed to be in conversation with a wider community, without revealing too much of themselves, or making these personal narratives vulnerable to exploitation by institutions and systems.

    The University of Notre Dame’s Global Center for the Development of the Whole Child works to create pathways out of adversity for the world’s most vulnerable children in 25 countries around the world, leveraging evidence-based innovations to develop effective Whole Child Development (WCD) approaches to not only advance children’s academic achievement, but also create safe, supportive, and equitable family, school, and community environments. Join Kate Schuenke-Lucien, Director for Haiti and Senior Associate Director for Strategic Planning, Father Lou DelFra ’92, M. Div. ’03, Director of Pastoral Life, Alliance for Catholic Education, and Makenzy Voltaire, Project Coordinator, Haiti for the Global Center for the Development of the Whole Child for a conversation about the intersection of faith, science, and how faith communities can nurture and support families with young children. Take a deep dive into the importance of integrating the science of early childhood development with the Catholic Church’s teachings, and how Haitian parishes can empower parents.
