    Happy New Year everyone!

    We are actually going to kick off 2025 with one last episode before bringing the season to a close! I'm actually getting married in March, so I plan on focusing on planning this wedding and getting to the March Break with work! So this will be the last episode for a while.

    On todays final episode, we talk about how we can build strong connections with students in for challenging communities. So today we have Lucy Black a former high school business and English teacher and retired high school principal of 8 years. She is also a published author called Class Lessons: Stories of Vulnerable Youth, which you can get Chapters, Indigo, Amazon, and Independent book stores and Demeter Press. We talk about:

    2. What are some practical strategies teachers can use to build connections with students?

    Hey folks! I'm on a plane to England/Germany with my students right now but that doesn't mean we can't pump out another episode before 2024 ends!

    I've had a bunch of people recently talk about switching careers and looking for new jobs. Today we bring in education consultant Larry Tomiyama. Larry spent 32 year in the Calgary Catholic School District as a Principal and Supervisor and former social science and physed teacher. He is a part time Sessional Professor at St. Marys University in Calgary working in the Department of Education. Larry has his Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Gonzaga University, and his B.Ed from the University of Calgary

    Today we talk about:

    1. What is education consulting? How do you make money out of this?
    2. What are other career paths Larry has has seen former students pursue?
    3. What skills do teachers posses that make us valuable?
    4. What are some pieces of advice for teachers considering switching careers?
