  • Excite, Explore, Engage: Big STEAM

    The Star Zone welcomes Jill Reglin. Jill will discuss the origins of the Michigan Writing Center Association and their upcoming 30th annual Ideas Exchange conference which will be hosted at Lansing Community College on September 28th.

    Guest Bio: Jill Reglin is a professor in the English department at Lansing Community College where she also serves as a Faculty Writing Center Coordinator. She is beginning her 27th year at the college this fall. As a graduate student at Michigan State University, she worked in the MSU Writing Center during its inaugural year of operation in 1992. She is credited as having founded the Michigan Writing Centers Association (the MiWCA), which is now celebrating the 30th year of its statewide Ideas Exchange conference.

    About our StarZone guest: Dawn Hardin, a native of Buffalo, New York, has been a resident of Lansing, Michigan for over four decades.

    Dawn has dedicated much of her adult life to the service of others whether in the capacity of advocate, financial advisor, facilitator, or mentor. Dawn has been in education for twenty-five years, earning tenure status with the Lansing School District.

    Dawn is an alumnus of Lansing Community College. She graduated Cum Laude from Central Michigan University and Magna Cum Laude from Walden University earning a B.S. in Education and a M.S. in Mathematics respectfully. These high honors were joined with other honors bestowed upon Mrs. Hardin over her career including the Academic Quality Improvement Program, AQUIP, award from Lansing Community College for her creation, facilitation, and implementation of a new course aimed at meeting the needs of students with mathematical challenges. Currently she divides her time as Coordinators of both LCC’s College Connect Program and Math Refresher Workshops in addition to being an Assistant Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at the college.

    Theatre Faculty, Paige Dunckel, talks about the upcoming show “My Emperor’s New Clothes” and highlights LCC’s Theatre program. Paige Dunckel is the Faculty Chair for the Theatre Program here at LCC. She earned her B.A. in Theatre and a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Arkansas and her M.F.A in Directing from The University of Memphis. She has worked in both educational and professional theatre for more than 30 years. She has received several awards for both her directing and acting in the community.
