When Marcus arrives at the fog-drenched shores of Llyn Ddraig, he thinks he’s chasing folklore—a local legend of a mermaid said to sing from beneath the black water. But the lake is quiet in unnatural ways. The trees seem to listen. The mist never lifts.

At first, it’s just a song—soft, mournful, impossible to forget. Then come the glimpses: pale skin slipping beneath the surface, eyes that seem to watch from the depths. Marcus is drawn in, obsessed, unable to leave, even as the locals avoid the lake like a wound that never heals.

What he doesn’t know is that the mermaid is real—and wrong. Twisted by an ancient curse, she lures with beauty and kills with hunger. And she has been waiting for someone just like Marcus.
