On March 31st, we premiere 40 for 40: Transformers: The Movie, celebrating the landmark anniversary of that iconic film - and to commemorate the occasion, we’re looking back on some of my favorite episodes of the podcast that exemplify my love and passion for this movie. But this episode carries more weight than usual.
Stan Chou, known in the fandom as “ArtistStan”, passed away on December 25, 2025, at the age of 49.
He had been active in the Transformers fan community since 2019. He’s probably most well known for animating deleted scenes, based on storyboards from Transformers the Movie, as well as leading a fan campaign to petition for an extended cut of the 86 movie.
But a year before he even launched that project, Stan joined me for one of my very first live streams to talk about his art, life, and of course, The Transformers: The Movie.
So today, we’re going back to July of 2020 and my interview with ArtistStan.
There is still an active go fund me to Help Support ArtistStan's family in their time of loss. If you’re able, please consider donating.
You can also check out his videos on YouTube, including his 4 year journey reviving lost scenes from Transformers: The Movie, as well as enjoying his artwork on his social media platforms:
