In his first start, TJ Lateef went 13 of 15 passing for 205 yards and 3 touchdowns, along with 31 rushing yards. His first four drives resulted in TDs. Following a win at Northwestern, the University of Nebraska extended football Head Coach Matt Rhule’s contract through the 2032 season. The deal reportedly increased the buyout from $5 million to $15 million dollars.

How do you feel Husker fans? Is the $10 million increase in the buyout enough to keep the wicked witch (in this case Penn State) at bay or will we find ourselves in her caldron at the end of this season despite the extension?

Feeling Confident? As Lee Corso would say - NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND: In 2019 after beating Iowa State, Baylor University extended Head Coach Matt Rhule’s contract through March of 2028. In this video, we compare what he said at his University of Baylor press conference announcing his extension to what he said this week at the press conference announcing the extension at Nebraska.

Husker fans, is our Halloween nightmare over? We at the Husker Fans in Montana Podcast hope it is and that Matt Rhule remains at Nebraska. However, we cannot fault Coach Rhule if he returns to the university he played at and has loved since birth. While the additional $10 million is a lot to us, we don’t believe it will be a roadblock to Penn State if they want Matt Rhule as their next head coach.

Maybe the best thing is to relax and enjoy the rest of the season. Perhaps that is the purpose of this extension all along. Let’s just not fall into the false sense of security that we will not end up in the old witch’s caldron at the end of the year.

Penn State has fired football head coach James Franklin leaving Nebraska's head coach Matt Rhule as the leading candidate to replace him. Coach Rhule grew up a Penn State fan, he's a graduate of Penn State, and a former walk on linebacker with the Nittany Lions. In his press conference on Monday, October 13, Coach Rhule's response to questions are eerily similar to his answers in a press conference prior to leaving Baylor University for the NFL. This video highlights some of the similarities and should serve to prepare Husker Fans for the eventuality that if Coach Rhule is offered the position of head coach at Penn State, he will accept. This is difficult for Husker fans to come to terms with as no head coach has ever left the Nebraska football program voluntarily to take another position.

Matt Rhule is a good man who is attempting to balance his current responsibilities and commitments to the Nebraska players, university, and fans while not outright lying about his desire to coach at Penn State. He is doing what he can to not "tank" the Husker's football season while remaining truthful. It seems clear the Penn State football head coaching position is Matt Rhule's dream job and no one should fault him for accepting the position.

It doesn't take a body language or statement analysis expert to conclude coach Rhule will likely accept the Penn State football head coaching position if offered. He spoke in the past tense about wanting to live in Nebraska and rebuild the football program. It seems clear the Penn State football head coaching position is Matt Rhule's dream job and no one should fault him for accepting the position.
