On The Rick Smith Show, Rick engages former NLRB chair Lauren McFerran, Senior Fellow at The Century Foundation, to discuss her explosive report, "Trump’s Assault on Independent Agencies Endangers Us All." McFerran exposes how Trump’s unprecedented efforts to politicize federal agencies threaten their ability to serve the public and hold corporations accountable. With mass firings, installation of political loyalists, and new executive orders placing expert regulators under White House control, essential worker and consumer protections are at risk.

Rick also interviews Bucknell economics professor Matias Vernengo, who draws a stark line between Larry Summers’ disastrous neoliberal economic policies and the erosion of Main Street’s prosperity. Together, they detail how these attacks and failed policies undermine democracy and the public good.

On the Rick Smith Show, Rick, alongside Raw Story’s Sarah Burris and investigative reporter Greg Palast, breaks down the appearance of Larry Summers’ name in the Jeffrey Epstein emails, emphasizing that Summers’ unethical correspondence and ongoing relationship with Epstein are alarming, but his real damage came from decades of harmful neoliberal policy advocacy. The episode examines how his Wall Street deregulation, opposition to strong economic stimulus, and protection of big banks hurt millions, urging listeners not to let the horrors of the emails distract from his policy legacy, which inflicted lasting economic harm.

I started listening to the Rick Smith Show when I first moved to Pennsylvania and Rick was in the early days of building his show. I frequently say that Rick taught me everything I needed to know about Pennsylvania politics. Since those days, the Rick Smith Show has grown national in scope, bringing unparalleled focus on the stories that matter to working-class Americans. Rick's slogan "the voice of the working-class" couldn't be more on the mark. There is no other show that brings the voices of the labor movement, workers' struggles, and politics and policies critical to working families.

And I challenge you not to laugh in between the serious discussions. Rick is one of a kind.

Simply no one else like Rick
