  • BONUS EP: At the European Patchwork Meeting with Libs Elliott and Daisy Aschehoug
    Oct 8 2025

I recently attended the Carrefour European Patchwork Meeting (EPM) in Alsace, France. I shared lodging with Daisy Aschehoug and Libs Elliott, both veteran attendees and exhibitors.

Libs was on the jury for the show, and was also exhibiting an all new solo show, a series of quilts made with generative code. I got to help hang that show and it was magnificent.

One evening, I put the microphone in the middle of our table, and we poured some wine, turned on the mic, and just had a chat. We covered artistic process, new and old ideas in quilting, the eternal tension of derivation vs inspiration, and remembering to turn on the camera occasionally!

I hope you enjoy a peek behind the scenes!

  • Embracing Tradition - with Tara Faughnan
    Oct 1 2025
#060: Tara Faughnan takes us on her quilting journey, through fabric design and a passion for traditional quilting blocks. She was recently the keynote speaker at QuiltCon 2025, and the attendees got to see her exploration of her maximalist traditional quilts in a lovely solo exhibition. Tara talks about finding the rhythm in her color palettes, which I find to be very distinctive! We talked about collaborative processes, and Tara says that while she collaborated a lot when she was designing textiles, she doesn’t look for collaboration when designing her quilts. We talk about how she researched the data she presented in her keynote about how poorly represented women in in museums, fine arts, galleries, and collections, and that despite occasionally thinking she should be come a painter to garner more art-world respect, she always returns to the women-driven lineage of quilting - and how much she values being part of that lineage. She talks more about all the feels around creating that keynote, but I’ll let you give it a listening her own words rather than my cliff-notes!She also talks about figuring out the right things to do, industry-wise, that make money, and appeals to us to stop working for free (motion seconded!)Show NotesWebsite - https://tarafaughnan.com/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/tarafaughnanFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/people/Tara-Faughnan-Quilts/100083173158162/YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDinczHJgfzjlV4vqG-3c1A/featuredQuiltCon - https://www.themodernquiltguild.com/quiltcon/quiltcon-homeTara’s Exhibit at Quiltcon 2025: https://youtu.be/3w8v9M6d-EEMichael Miller - https://www.michaelmillerfabrics.com/Hoffman Fabrics - https://hoffmancaliforniafabrics.net/Block Studies - https://tarafaughnan.com/pages/block-studies?srsltid=AfmBOop12ymWIjP4_mJ9gRrJGMZ__TpDPESA9s9tUtPQ0YnvV5vAIGSSClos Mirabel Retreat - https://tarafaughnan.com/products/clos-mirabel-depositOther Upcoming Events - https://tarafaughnan.com/pages/upcoming-eventsClos Mirabel - https://clos-mirabel.com/Daisy Aschehoug - https://daisyaschehoug.com & https://warmfolk.comSheila Frampton Cooper - https://www.zoombaby.com/Embroidered Journey - https://embroideredjourney.com/How to Own a Revolutionary Craft Biz is a reader-supported publication. • Authentically Attracting Your People - With Samantha Hoyt
    Sep 17 2025

#059 - Samantha Hoyt was a joy to talk to - two Sams collide to talk about all the things, and let me tell you, we discovered we have a lot in common. Sam is past the point of being anything other than authentically who she is (which is passionate about sewing, taking care of the planet, and a lot of other big hearted things), and as it turns out, that’s what brings people back to her sewing retreats year after year.

She is very much a maker, and makes a lot of her own clothes. She is intimately aware of the cost of fast fashion, especially the hidden costs to environment and to the people making the garments. She’s an advocate of us all to do better about keeping clothes out of the landfill.
