This bloc sees Trump not just as a leader but as the center of the party’s identity, demanding unwavering loyalty and punishing dissent.
On the other side are the traditional and institutional Republicans — longtime conservatives, national-security figures, and policy-focused lawmakers — who are increasingly alarmed by Trump’s consolidation of power. They view his mass pardons, legal battles, and political pressure campaigns as destabilizing and dangerous. But even as they speak privately about the risks, most are publicly cautious, fearing backlash from the Republican base.
