Any Cultural Anthropologist would most certainly pay attention to the parts of culture that bring joy, elation, warmth and cheer. But, you can't evaluate a people-group without leaning in to the "sore subject" of PAIN. Pain's a part of human life BEFORE Jesus... but what about after? Why should pain persist as a part of Christian Life? What is the Purpose of Pain?
