The Godly Woman: Her Worth

Proverbs 31:10-31

Worth is the value of someone measured by:

1. The high regard others assign to that person and/or
2. The presence of godly qualities in that person's life

She-has-worth bullet points:

1. God calls her valuable. (10)
2. She will save you money. (11)
3. She will preserve your life. (12)
4. She will be a source of strength to you. (17)
5. She will elevate your reputation. (23)
6. She is praiseworthy. (28)

The takeaway for all godly women:

1. Find your worth in God.
2. Avoid fostering a cheapened opinion of your worth.

The application for everyone else:

1. Thank God, and pray for the godly women in your lives.
2. Lean on godly women for help and support.
3. Praise godly women often.
4. Imagine your life without a valuable, godly woman.

The Plot Twist

Mark 16:1-7

Notice some things about this plot twist.

1. It took three days. (1-2)
2. It involved uncertain commitment. (3-4)
3. It required several miracles. (5-6)
4. It all hinged on a promise. (7)

The application: As the plot twist goes, so goes your salvation from your penalty of death.

1. It has taken a while.
2. It will take faith.
3. It will take God's grace.
4. It will take His promise.

The Abandonment

Mark 15:33-39

On Thursday Night, Jesus was:

1. Abandoned by Judas (14:10-21)
2. Abandoned by the Disciples (14:43-50)
3. Abandoned by the Fringe Follower (14:51-52)

On Friday Morning, Jesus was:

1. Abandoned by Peter (14:66-72)
2. Abandoned by His chosen nation (15:6-15)
3. Abandoned by His Father (15:33-34)

Application: Should you experience total abandonment, will you stick to the plan?

Notice:

Application:

1. Notice your exact placement in God’s plan.
2. Take time to see what God is offering.
3. Agree that Jesus is the determining factor of your destiny.
4. Be thankful to be one of the many.

The Alignment

Mark 14:1-2; 10-11, ESV

Points:

1. The leaders were afraid.
2. A follower got swayed.
3. A betrayer got paid.

Main Point: People will align against Jesus.

Application:

1. Be careful around faithless cowards.
2. Be aware of tempting offers.
3. Be more than a follower.

The Battle of the "R's"

Mark 12:28-34

The Point: Proper relationships with the Lord and other people are more acceptable than any work that can be done for Him.

Points of the passage:

The religious leaders prioritized rules. (28)

1. To find peaceful commonality
2. To maintain power
3. To sidestep personal sinfulness

Jesus prioritized relationships. (29-31)

1. To promote love.
2. To set a worthwhile goal.
3. To provide an "umbrella" for the Christian life.

By prioritizing relationships, Jesus won some people who prioritized rules. (32-34)

1. Truth wins some. (32)
2. Relationship trumps religion. (33)
3. Truth and love can lead to salvation. (34)

Application:

1. We must know the rules.
2. We must build relationships.
3. We must share the rules to better those relationships.

The Big Entrance

Mark 11:1-10

Points of the passage:

1. Jesus saw everything before arriving. (1-3)

• He saw what was unseeable.
• He heard what was unspoken.
• He knew the human mind.

2. The situation confirmed the divinity of Jesus before He arrived. (4-6)

• The colt was there.
• The disciples obeyed.
• The strangers consented.

3. Jesus was honored as He arrived. (7-8)

• The disciples sacrificed for Jesus.
• They guarded His presentation.

4. Jesus was praised at His arrival. (9-10)

• He was anticipated.
• He was surrounded.
• He was celebrated.

Our application: Jesus is coming again and:

1. He knows what is going on with you.
2. Your life is an affirmation that He is the real deal.
3. You will honor Him before He shows up.
4. Jesus will again be worshipped on the earth.

The Main Point: Jesus came into Jerusalem and was respected for a few days. When he walks into the new Jerusalem, He will be worshipped forever.

Worship Committedly

Joshua 24:14-18

Points:

1. The Israelites were given blessings. (1-13)
2. The Israelites were given a command. (14)
3. The Israelites were given a choice. (15)
4. The Israelites were given a role model. (15)
5. The Israelites recounted their blessings. (16-18a)
6. The Israelites made their choice. (18b)

Application:

1. God has blessed us, as well.
2. God has also given us a command.
3. We have a choice to make, too.
4. We have also been given a model.
5. You should remember your blessings, too.
