Podcasting Explained Gets a Second Edition

Back in 2021 – wow, half a decade ago – we decided to respond to the many queries we received about how podcasts work (“So, how do I create a podcast?”) and decided to put things down on paper. Specifically, we wrote book.

Podcasting Explained was published in 2021. It was part of our Explained series of books, and was intended to provide a workable understanding of podcasts within the world of audio storytelling.

Well, to say that a lot has changed, or evolved, in half a decade doesn’t begin to illuminate the world of podcasting. So, we decided to update that book.

Podcasting Explained 2.0 – the second edition – is now available. And this episode of The Point talks about the content in the second edition of Podcasting Explained, as well as what we thought deserved more attention: how non-profits and charities use podcasts to broaden their reach and amplify their messages.

Henley Point and the Future of Podcasting

Henley Point is shaping the future of podcasting with projects like the second edition of Podcasting Explained, their inclusion-focused partnership with Connect 4 Life, and storytelling ventures such as The Point.

This episode highlights their leadership in adapting to technology, empowering diverse creators, and creating impactful narratives across platforms.

And as wonderful as all of that sounds, we didn't write it.

This episode features guest co-hosts Eric and Steve, both of whom are … AI generated. In fact, the entire episode provides listeners with a clear-cut example of the impact of AI on podcast production and content creation.

It's a little unnerving, certainly amazing and possibly a bit creepy. That said, it's out there and it's being used by an increasing number of content creators and podcasters. Those of us at The Point, however, have provided this episode merely as an example of the technology -- personally, we prefer the old-fashioned approach with real people, real voices and real production. But hey, you decide.
