Even if we're not passing it on to another generation, we are passing it on through all of our relationships.

I am painting pictures with my words. I'm sculpting sensation with my language.

This is my self-expression. This is what I feel, what I know to be true, from my experiences and how I see the world.

Healing does not have to be hard, and feeling your feelings can be fun.

Even though this episode was harder for me than I thought it would be, I did it. I pushed record. I said the words out loud.

There's something here, and now I get to watch it back. I get to hear what I said. I get to witness myself. I get to hear my own story from a different perspective, from my adult perspective.

I get to believe myself.

This is Part 6 of The Void Conversation, where I continue the story of The Adult Man—and begin to talk about the worst of the worst. This is a story of obsession, jealousy, and control.

I thought this was “love” because I was trained to accept relationships like this. When I finally escaped, I locked it all away for survival. I didn’t think about him. I didn’t speak about him.

But cutting off a part of your past never really works. Now, I’m opening that box—and telling my story to myself.

I'm sharing this publicly as an example of something we can all do privately: reclaim our narratives. We don’t have to accept the version of events we were told. We get to decide what it means—then, now, and for our future.

For years, I wasn’t safe enough to open this can of worms. I was never safe with the people who claimed to love me. But through my work with The Plumb Collective, I have created safety within myself.

Everything I’ve done—Plumb Practice, The Diner, reading myself—has stacked together, gently and incrementally, to bring me to this moment. I can finally talk about The Adult Man. I am so proud of myself.This is what healing can look like. This is what healing can feel like.

I am proof that healing is possible.
