The New World Pictures Podcast is dedicated to every movie released by New World Pictures. We talk about the things we loved and the things we hated along with the detailed history of each film's history and production.

Founded by the infamous Roger Corman, New World Pictures was responsible for the greatest genre and exploitation films of the 1970's and 1980's. Remember all those movies that lived proudly in the Action, Horror, Comedy and Sci-Fi isles of the video store? Titles like Death Race 2000, Hellraiser, Heathers and Piranha. They were all made by New World Pictures.

In addition to talking about the films themselves, we talk with the Writers, Producers and Directors who worked with New World Pictures. The New World Pictures Podcast

  • 4th Annual Worldies and Our Running Top/Bottom 5 2025 Edition
    Jan 15 2026

It's award show season again and that means it's time for the single most prestigious awards extravaganza - The Worldies! The only award show that covers all the movies we talked about last year. Also, the only awards show that celebrates movies made over 30 years ago. Also, the only awards show with categories like, "The Best Film with Too Many Characters" and "The Anthony Perkins Award for Filthiest Shirt".

Variety called it, "what's 'The Worldies' and get off my lawn"

Entertainment Weekly said, "please stop calling me"

Joining us to hand out these very prestigious awards are a few of our former guests and NWPPVIPs including:

  • Ep. 162: The Warrior and the Sorceress
    Dec 19 2025
We end #deathcember with THE WARRIOR AND THE SORCERESS which could be considered DEATHSTALKER-ish. Or DEATHSTALKER-light. THE WARRIOR AND THE SORCERESS stars David Carradine (DEATHSPORT, DEATH RACE 2000), Maria Socas (DEATHSTALKER 2) and Anthony De Longis (THE SWORD AND THE SORCERER) in a movie that pays off on its poster as it actually features a woman with four boobies.

Based on and entirely ripping off Yojimbo, THE WARRIOR AND THE SORCERESS follows Kain (Carradine), a mercenary who decides to take advantage of the ongoing feud between two rival warlords who just so happen to live right across the street from each other. They are compelled to "hate thy neighbor" because they believe the well in the middle of the town is the only source of water for miles. If they did only the laziest of digging, they would find there is plenty of water in the ground, but let's not let that ruin the story.

THE WARRIOR AND THE SORCERESS features a plethora of nudity, lizard puppets, and sword slap fighting. People are able to escape from captivity with the slightest of ease and they drown captives in a tank of water which seems crazy since water is the most precious commodity in the town. Oh well.

Like it or not, THE WARRIOR AND THE SORCERESS wraps up 2025 for us and we want to thank all of you for listening. It's been a wild and fun year. Can you believe we talked about THE TIN DRUM and JIMMY THE KID this year? I dare you to find a podcast with that kind of diversity. See you in 2026!

  • Interview with writer/director/SFX artist Steven Kostanski (DEATHSTALKER, PSYCHO GOREMAN)
    Dec 11 2025
We continue #DEATHcember with more love for DEATHSTALKER, writer, director, and special effects artist Steven Kostanski's newest film and reimagining of the sword and sorcery franchise produced by Roger Corman, the original of which was released by New World Pictures. Last week, we discussed the Daniel Bernhardt-starring film and this week we are talking to Kostanski himself about the making of the film, the state of indie filmmaking today, working with Slash as a producer and the co-writer of DEATHSTALKER's incredible theme song, the line of dialogue Patton Oswalt did NOT want to say, and Kostanski's body of work that includes PSYCHO GOREMAN, FRANKIE FREAKO, and MANBORG.

We also talk about his days with Astron-6, the filmmaking collective that kickstarted the career of Kostanski and his compatriots Adam Brooks, Jeremy Gillespie, Matthew Kennedy, and Conor Sweeney, all of whom worked together on 2011's FATHER'S DAY and who often star or show up in Kostanski's films, including DEATHSTALKER. And if you wanted to know Kostanski's thoughts on the ROBOCOP animated series from New World Television, we got you covered on that, too.

There are few filmmakers working today who are more successful in managing practical effects and genre storytelling than Kostanski and it was a thrill for us to discuss his work with him. Thanks to Steven for his time and all his movies and if you haven't yet watched DEATHSTALKER, it is available to rent from Shout! Studios and Raven Banner Entertainment! Go watch it!

To keep up with Kostanski's work, follw his Instagram here.
