Welcome back to The Life During And After GLP-1 Podcast hosted by Daryl Perry of Your Level Fitness.
In this episode Daryl walks through one of the most common questions people have when researching or starting a GLP-1 medication. What side effects might you experience?
Daryl begins by reminding listeners that while this podcast is designed to help you understand the experience of using GLP-1 medications, your healthcare provider should always be your primary source for medical guidance. These conversations are best had with the doctor who knows your health history and understands your specific situation.
The first side effect many people notice involves digestive changes. Some individuals experience nausea, bloating, constipation, or feeling overly full. These symptoms can feel uncomfortable, especially early on, which is why it is important to know they are possible and to talk through them with your healthcare team.
Another adjustment that surprises many people is how quickly appetite can change. The relationship you have had with food for years may suddenly feel very different. Hunger cues may quiet down and food may simply feel less urgent than it once did. While this can be helpful for weight loss, it can also feel unfamiliar at first.
The third experience Daryl discusses is fatigue or changes in energy levels. As your body adjusts to eating differently and responding to the medication, your energy may fluctuate. Understanding your schedule, your lifestyle, and how the medication may fit into your day is something that should always be part of the conversation with your doctor.
Throughout the episode Daryl emphasizes that GLP-1 medications are simply a tool. When used alongside habits, awareness, and an inside/out approach to health and fitness, they can help create the conditions needed to build a lifestyle that supports long term well being.
