The Microbiome Project & Beyond (the new frontier in medicine)

Since the Human Microbiome Project (HMP), we've made significant strides in understanding the gut microbiome's role in health and disease. The microbiome, the vast community of microorganisms living in and on our body's has opened up a new frontier in medicine. The HMP, which concluded in 2012, laid the groundwork by identifying a vast array of microbial species and their basic functions. Now, research has expanded to explore the microbiome's influence on various conditions, personalized medicine, and therapeutic interventions.
