  • 253 | Contractors Gain an Edge with Financing
    Dec 16 2020

One of the biggest reasons why small contractors struggle in getting signed contracts is because they do not offer financing options to clients. Many property owners prefer to not spend cash on construction jobs but refinancing their home to obtain the cash can be very costly and time consuming. Financing options for contractors, through companies like Hearth Financing, solve this problem and help contractors gain an edge over competitors.

  • 251 | Landlords Struggle to Navigate AB3088
    Nov 25 2020

Signed into law on September 1, 2020 by Governor Newsom, AB3088 is widely known as the COVID 19 Tenant Relief Act of 2020. This law enacted many safety measures for tenants and requires landlords to comply with various requirements in order to evict or have the ability to pursue past due rents. But the new law also allowed for local jurisdictions to place stricter requirements. This has created large confusion amongst many landlords trying to keep up with rules that may or may not apply to their specific property. In this episode, I help alleviate the confusion with a summary of the law and a landlord's duties to comply with the COVID-19 Tenant Relief Act of 2020.

  • 250 | Prop 19: How It Will Affect You
    Nov 25 2020

The 2020 election sparked many emotions in American citizens. Besides voting for the next President, Americans also voted on many local propositions. In California, Proposition 19 was one of those. Even though it passed with approximately 51.5% majority vote, there is still a lot of confusion on this proposition and what it exactly does to property taxes. In this episode, I break down Prop 19 and how it will work. If you are a senior citizen or plan on transferring property to your children or grandchildren or if you are the child receiving the property, this is an episode you will need to hear.

  • Ep 248 | An Aeroplane In the Sky
    Mar 20 2020

As the son of Roger Waters, who cofounded the band Pink Floyd, and a mother with a bigger record collection than his dad, it's no surprise that Harry Waters became an accomplished musician. His childhood consisted of touring with his father, learning the piano, and you've probably heard his voice as a child in Pink Floyd's song Goodbye Blue Sky. Today, along with sporting an incredibly long red beard, Harry has become an expert piano and Hammond Organ player, scores films, and performs with his band McNally Waters. He joins me on the podcast to discuss his unique upbringing with music and his techniques in scoring a film.

  • Ep. 247 | The Bay Areas Growing Jazz Scene
    Mar 5 2020

The smooth and relaxing rhythms most often associated with a cool New Orleans night form the basis of America's Classical Music: Jazz. Over the years as America fell in love with rock n roll, hip hop, punk rock or K-Pop, the jazz scene has always held a place in our nation in the 100 plus years since its creation. What makes jazz so special is that as it has grown and spread, it has molded with the world around it, creating different genres and moods that perfectly match the wide diversity in America. Each new generation offers a chance to create its own spin on the genre, further growing it for the worlds enjoyment. Our guest today is one of those next generation jazz musicians, Nora Stanley. Not even 24 years old, Nora is the latest jazz phenom on the Bay Area scene.

  • Ep 246 | The Art of Storytelling
    Feb 28 2020

With the awards season having come to a close last week with the Oscars, it seems as good a time as any to talk about one of my favorite subjects: movies. The art of storytelling is not easy to master. There are many nuances to the craft that many are not aware of and are difficult to learn. Our guest today is Professor joseph McBride, who teaches the art of screenwriting as well as film history at San Francisco State University. Over his 40 plus year career, Professor McBride has written books about Steven Spielberg and Frank Capra, and worked alongside the legendary Orson Wells. Today, Professor McBride is on our podcast to share with us his journey and experiences in the film industry.
