  • Series 6, Episode 3: Ian Salmon
    Jun 13 2025

This week on The Lonely Arts Club, we’re joined by writer and proud Bootle native, Ian Salmon. A self-confessed geek long before it was fashionable, Ian’s journey has been anything but ordinary. From growing up as the son of a baker to spending years in retail management, he eventually found his true calling in the arts.

Ian shares how he transitioned into writing — taking up blogging and balancing freelance sports journalism (you might know him from The Anfield Wrap) with a growing reputation in theatre. His passion for the stage led to the acclaimed play Girls Don’t Play Guitars, a celebration of Liverpool’s musical heritage and female empowerment.

Join us as we talk geekdom, the thrill of theatre, and following your passion — even if it takes a while to find it.
