The Living in Sheffield Podcast: building bridges between female migrants and scholars is a project made in partnership between the University of Sheffield and Living in Sheffield. These 4 episodes are presented by Dr. Patricia Nabuco Martuscelli (lecturer in the International Relations department and co-director of the Migration Research Group) and Livia Barreira (journalist, writer, producer and founder of Living in Sheffield, an online platform that independently supports diversity in Sheffield). In this episode of the Living in Sheffield podcast, we will discuss how the colour of our skin and origin can have such an impact and effect on our experience as a migrant in the UK. Using the sociological concept of intersectionality, the reality is women experience disadvantages in migration in different ways when compared to men. For this important conversation we are receiving Professor Sundari Anitha, who is the chair in the department of Sociological Studies at the University of Sheffield. We also have Angelina Abel who is the founder of Mulembas d'Africa dance classes in Sheffield and Mamawe Afro-pean dance festival.
