One of the greatest experiences of inventing new products is seeing them being used for the purpose in

which they were created. A very large majority of inventors start out with the intent of helping people

with their daily lives. Most products are created to help the end user accomplish something that is

currently causing them trouble, taking to much time to complete, or the Invention idea allows a task to

be done better, faster, easier and in most cases the update or idea may not be available at this time.

Some of the larger verticals for new product are in the health, sports and recreation industries. The best

ideas I have seen are in those headings, but let me warn you because they are the most popular there

are a lot of people developing products in that market. There are some sub-categories within these

industries that are very tough to break into; we will go over some of those industries later on in the

book. Lets get back to your idea.

Sandy is a wife and mom of five. She enjoys supporting children in becoming better readers and believes that better reading skills begin with helping children develop better reading habits.

Her philosophy about reading is that once a child is inspired to read what they love, they won’t have to be forced. Real reading happens when it’s an inspiration and not a requirement.

    Patent Strategy and Product Viability

Carmine discussed a situation involving a man with two world-changing product ideas that are currently under review by the USPTO. He emphasized that while the man is patent pending, asking for NDAs could be counterproductive and show fearfulness. Carmine also expressed concern about the man's plans to appear on Shark Tank and launch a Kickstarter campaign without disclosing his financial situation or proving product demand. He suggested that the man reconsider his approach and focus on proving the viability of his products before seeking partnerships or public attention.

    Strategic Business Launch Advice

Carmine advised against applying to Shark Tank with an unproven idea and suggested that the gentleman should first apply for Shark Tank and then launch a Kickstarter campaign. He emphasized the importance of using resources wisely and not jumping ahead in the process. Carmine also discussed the dangers of contacting buyers too early without a finished product, as it could waste valuable opportunities. He encouraged controlling emotions and making the right business decisions when dealing with ideas and inventions.

    Balancing Emotion in Business Success

Carmine discussed the importance of balancing emotion and rational decision-making in business and invention, emphasizing that while passion is crucial, controlled emotions lead to better success. He advised inventors to seek partnerships wisely and focus on presenting themselves as business-savvy individuals. Carmine also mentioned plans to re-release his "secret sequence of inventing" based on positive feedback and encouraged listeners to engage with UIA through various channels, including social media and upcoming events.

  • GOGs1e7: Genius Behind Eco Bandage
    Dec 30 2025

    Send us Fan Mail

On this episode of Generations of Genius, I’m joined by Kiowa Kavovit — a true trailblazer whose entrepreneurial journey began at just six years old as Shark Tank’s youngest inventor.

Now the founder of Eco Bandage, the world’s first colored liquid bandage designed in diverse skin tones, Kiowa shares what it’s been like growing up as an entrepreneur, building a business alongside her family, and learning that innovation often takes time, patience, and rebranding to truly get it right.

We dive into the realities of being a young founder, evolving your vision, and why sustainability, inclusivity, and thoughtful design are at the heart of everything she creates. Kiowa also reflects on the long road from early invention to launching a product with real impact — and what she’s learned along the way.

Kiowa is also an Amber Grant recipient through WomensNet, an organization dedicated to supporting women-owned businesses. You can learn more about the Amber Grant and its mission here:

This conversation is an inspiring reminder that genius evolves — and that sometimes the most powerful growth happens when you allow ideas the time they need to fully become what they’re meant to be.
