  • Rescuing a Discovery 2 Td5, slipping clutches and Discovery 4 vs. Range Rover L405
    Mar 25 2026

In this episode, Martin is in a beer garden with Ian Arthur from Howden Classic, having just dragged a forlorn Discovery 2 from its resting place in a field.

As the two enjoy a crisp cider (joined by many seagulls) they talk about the Discovery in question, and how the deciding factors on what makes a viable project vehicle have changed from a sound chassis to making sure all the hard-to-find parts are there and the interior and bodywork are as tidy as possible.

Martin has a moment of tyre snobbery, and Ian ponders the future of the freshly-rescued Discovery. Be sure to check out Ian's podcast too – A Pint of Petrol.
